Students will learn and practice

Emotional regulation

Staying steady when the dice do not cooperate, and recovering after a setback.

Fair play

Following the rules, taking turns, and playing to win without bending either.

Self-awareness

Noticing what frustration or excitement feels like before it turns into a reaction.

Communication skills

Explaining a move, asking a question, and listening to the person across the table.

Sharing

Sharing pieces, space, and attention, and making room for every player in the game.

Every game is a chance to practice.

What practice looks like at the table

Board games create natural moments to practice the skills that are hard to teach from a worksheet. A coach is at the table to name the moment while it is happening.

Waiting your turn

Every round asks a student to wait, watch, and stay with the group while someone else plays. That is the same patience a classroom asks for.

Handling a loss

Losing a round is a low-stakes way to practice disappointment. Students learn a few steady ways to reset and get back in the game.

Winning kindly

Celebrating a win without leaving anyone out is a skill too. "Good game" becomes a habit that carries into recess and team sports.

Who can benefit from this group

Students who find social situations challenging and learn best through hands-on experience. Board games create natural moments to practice: waiting your turn, handling a loss, and celebrating a win kindly. With guided coaching in a small, supportive group, students carry these skills into school and everyday life.

Questions from parents

My child is in sixth grade. Which group should we pick?

Sixth graders can join either the Friday group for grades 4 to 6 at 5:00 p.m. or the Wednesday group for grades 5 to 6 at 6:30 p.m. Choose the day that fits your week. If you would like help deciding, email or call us and we will talk it through.

Is there class Thanksgiving week?

No. Thanksgiving week is skipped for every group (Tuesday, Nov. 24; Wednesday, Nov. 25; Friday, Nov. 27). Each group still meets six times, and the last session moves into December.

Who leads the group?

Your Move is offered by Teacher Tutors together with Livingston Counseling Associates. Groups are kept small so the coach can step in during a game and help a student name what just happened and try a different response.

How do I register two children in different groups?

Complete one registration for each child. Pick the first child's group, finish checkout, then come back to this page and pick the second group.

How do I pay?

You register online in a few minutes. Tuition is $450 by check, cash, Zelle, or bank transfer. Paying by credit or debit card costs more, and checkout shows the total for each way of paying before anything is charged.

Is there a sibling discount?

Yes. When you register two or more children for the same group in one registration, each child after the first receives 10% off.

Ready to save a seat?

Pick your child's group and register online in a few minutes. Groups are small, so seats are limited.
