Schools we support in Summit, NJ

Our certified New Jersey teachers work with Summit students at every level and across every subject, from elementary reading and math to middle school, high school honors and AP courses, and the SAT and ACT. We support families at both the public and independent schools in and around Summit, and each plan is built around your child's actual classes, assignments, and goals.

Summit's math acceleration starts at Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School, where strong students move through an accelerated pre-algebra course in seventh grade and Algebra I in eighth, a course the state reports directly on the middle school's performance record. Earning and keeping a seat in that lane depends on consistent work in the intermediate grades, which is where a steady tutor often makes the difference between coasting and qualifying, well before high school report cards raise the stakes.

Summit High School guards its honors and AP doors with published criteria: students currently in an honors or AP course generally need a B minus average at the midterm, with no grade below C plus, to advance to the next level. The sequence runs high, too. Students who finish AP Calculus BC can continue into Multivariable Calculus Honors. For a student on the bubble, one shaky marking period can close a door for the following year, which is why many Summit families bring in support at the first sign of slipping rather than after the report card.

The state's checkpoints, the NJSLA in grades 3 through 8 and high school and the NJGPA in eleventh grade, run quietly in the background; the louder deadlines are the October PSAT of junior year and the SAT or ACT season that follows. Summit students often begin structured prep the summer before junior year. In-home or online sessions with a certified teacher keep coursework, placement criteria, and test prep pointed at the same goal instead of competing for the same evenings.
